Roof Repair vs. Replacement: A New Orleans Homeowner’s Guide

We get asked this question on almost every estimate we run in New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, Slidell, and Chalmette. Here’s the simple framework we use.
Repair makes sense when
- The roof is under 12 years old.
- The damage is localized — one or two leak points.
- The deck is solid and the field shingles still have most of their granules.
- There’s no widespread hail bruising or wind creasing.
Replacement is the better spend when
- The roof is over 15 years old, especially after a named storm.
- Multiple slopes have failed flashings or repeat leaks.
- Hail bruising or wind creasing is visible across the field.
- You can FORTIFY at the same time and recapture the cost through insurance savings.
When we inspect your roof we will tell you which side of the line you’re actually on — even when it’s the smaller job. Honest advice has been the most reliable lead source we have. Call 504-834-5353 to book a free inspection.
